About Ferry
Ferry built his first POS system at 15, not to launch a startup but because Word invoices weren’t cutting it.
Back then, he was working in a small Apple reseller store besides school. What started as a part-time job turned into managing multiple Apple stores across Germany. Over time, he became deeply familiar with the systems that ran retail and noticed how many of them struggled to keep up with modern needs, especially when it came to compliance.
That curiosity led to Paydroid, his first company: a POS system built for iPads. He later opened an online store for selling Apple accessories, but quickly realized how much customization was needed to make a store legally compliant in Germany. That stuck with him.
After Paydroid, Ferry joined a Berlin-based startup building POS software for the DACH region. He became the first employee and took on the role of Chief Product Officer. From UX and product to regulatory research, he saw first-hand how complex compliance could block good merchants from moving forward.
In 2017, Ferry joined Shopify in Canada. Not long after, Shopify began expanding internationally, and Ferry became the go-to person for local compliance insights. Later, he led the expansion of Shopify POS into 12 countries. What became clear during those years: Compliance wasn’t just a box to tick. It was often the biggest blocker to growth.

About Christof
Christof has spent over 15 years building commerce platforms that scale, from niche marketplaces to global point of sale systems. He combines deep technical architecture expertise with a clear sense of what merchants need to sell, grow, and stay compliant.
In 2017, he co-created VanlifeLocation, an Airbnb-style marketplace for natural campsites. The platform managed the full commerce flow including onboarding, escrow, disputes, and high-volume bookings. It grew to thousands of daily users before being acquired by ADAC’s PiNCAMP.
He then co-founded dot9, a software agency building commerce-enabled platforms for startups and SMBs. dot9’s products integrated payments, subscriptions, and marketplace features that helped clients reach 7-figure ARR and secure 7-figure VC funding. The agency grew into a 15-person team.
At Shopify, Christof joined the Point of Sale team as a Senior Full-Stack Engineer. He architected the compliance platform that unlocked European markets such as Germany, Italy, and Spain. His work enabled thousands of merchants to sell in-store and online while meeting complex fiscal regulations.
That mix of merchant empathy, engineering depth, and compliance know-how is the foundation of OpenFiskal. Christof has seen the gaps first-hand as an entrepreneur, as an agency founder, and as an engineer at the world’s leading commerce platform. Today, he is building the solution he wished had existed years ago: a platform that makes compliance effortless for merchants.
